2023-02 Warby Ovens National Park, Yarrawonga and Murrundindi Reserve

Yet again, we headed off to Yarrawonga, a place that keeps drawing us back because it has plenty of bird life and is so very different from Kalorama.

On the way, we dropped in at Warby Ovens National Park and climbed Chick Hill. It is quite a challenging climb being very rocky and steep. One of the photos shows the true gradient and the camera really was level, honest! It is the first time since Hazel’s broken ankle that we have tried anything that challenging and she coped really well, good girl!

Then off to Yarrawonga for a couple of nights. The first night was Valentine’s day and the hotel had a special menu. We had the Chateaubriand, something that we hadn’t had for more than 20 years. The next day, we hiked the 6 km into town via Chinaman’s reserve which is always great for birds. We had a nice lunch at the cafe in the information centre by the river before returning back to the hotel for a nice beer watching the sun go down and then finishing off the Chateabriand which was far too much for us on the first night.
